December 14

This time of year again ..

Well winter is well and truly here, frost is on the ground and all the trees in my garden have turned red and orange. All my xmas decorations are up flashing away, the tree has been decorated and I have just about finished all of my xmas shopping. So now I can sit back and relax. Seems strange to be here for Xmas, the past 3 years I have spent it overseas.  We rented a converted barn in the heart of the North York moors last week, was good to get away for a bit, Alex looked after the animals back at home, so we just spent our time walking and taking in the scenary which is very similer to the Peaks apart from they haven't haven't got the grandness of the Peaks, or the edges where the Peaks meet the dales, We had to drive 3 miles from the barn to get a phone signal on our mobiles. It was just us and the sheep and it was lovely.  We are all hoping to go overseas around March time when it turns a bit warmer tho we have not decided where we are going yet. Wrote my christmas cards out and just been delivering the ones which are local, It's almost near freezing outside. Yesterday we all went to visit my Uncle who is back in the cancer hospital after they found out that his cancer had come back. He is on a slow drip of chemo and steroids, He's not been at all well and very out of breath, but hopefully the steroids will kick in soon and make him feel a bit stronger. We are hoping that he will be out for xmas. My sister and brother in law have been accepted as adoptive parents after all the tests - criminal, financial, family, health checks, background etc etc etc etc etc and etc, and went to a meeting last months where they were shown videos of children that were in need of adopting, then told to choose 2, they had their heart set on two little boys and put in for those but they have just found out that another couple also put in for the same ones and they were chosen to taken them instead, so now my sister has to wait for the next meeting which are every 6 - 8 months and go through it all again and then apply from the next list of children - with so many children waiting in care homes to be adopted you think the meetings would be sooner. The system stinks in my opinion.  Well I'm going to watch the prestige .. it's been recording since 8 but with sky + you can watch it as it records, fast forwards the ads, I wish I had got it sooner! I hate the ads, Bought a new 42in tv the other week too - never watched so much tv!

David Hatch

Just had an email from an old friend telling me about the sad news of David Hatch who I  had the pleasure of meeting a couple of times.  He was a really nice person and it's such sad news ...

David Hatch dies at 68

David Hatch dies at 68
BBC

Sir David Hatch, the comic performer turned BBC executive, died last night at the age of 68

He made his name performing alongside John Cleese, Bill Oddie,Graem Garden and Tim-Brooke Taylor in the Sixties radio comedy I’m Sorry I'll Read That Again.

They had all met as members of Cambridge University’s Footlights, group, and took their 1963 revue show A Clump Of Plinths (later renamed Cambridge Circus) to the West End and Broadway.

The following year, I’m Sorry I'll Read That Again was born, and it ran until December 1973.

Hatch went on to produce shows such as Week Ending and Just A Minute, before moving into management. He served as head of radio light entertainment and controller of Radio 2 and Radio 4, eventually becoming managing director of BBC network radio in 1987. He left the corporation in 1996.

BBC colleagues have paid tribute to his work.

Jenny Abramsky, director of BBC audio and music, said: ‘Sir David Hatch was one of the greats of BBC radio.

‘He was a performer, a leader and an inspirer of people. He led the radio Light Entertainment department with verve and joy.

’He was a terrific controller of both Radio 2 and Radio 4 and as managing director of BBC Radio he modernised and ensured that radio thrived in an increasingly competitive world

‘No one in BBC radio has ever had such a wide ranging and successful career.’

Hatch, who was knighted in 2004, had been suffering from a long illness.

Back Online

I can't believe it's been so long since I last updated my space truth is I haven't really spent that much time online since I came back from the States. I log on once or twice a week to check emails and my groups but hardly ever sign into messenger. Things have been pretty hard here health wise and the death of a very close friend not too long ago.

I've been trying to focus on positive things, So been staying with a couple of friends and spending as much time as possible away from home and the things that were making me sad. I also bought myself a new puppy, well really it was a 1st birthday pressie for Darcy - a little playmate but it's kept me occupied also as puppies tend to do!.

A VERY HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR!!!
2007
Well time has come to update my blog and post some pics of our travels in America.
It's been an awsome holiday - First we stopped off in Orlando, hired a villa with a pool and jacuzzi, Was lovely relaxing in the pool, listening to Christmas songs playing on the radio with the sun beating down. We visited most of the tourist attractions - Universal Studios, Island of adventure, Disneyworld etc. Gatorland where we fed 15ft Gators. We drove down to Cape Canaveral to watch the shuttle launch, It was amazing! I'm so glad I saw it, spent the next day in Cocoa beach where we saw lots pelicans then we decided to spend some time seeing what Miami was like before heading off to Georgia. I really like the American people the ones I have met have all been very nice and welcoming. tho I don't like the food much - they put garlic in everything! yukk

Borat

Met up with Alex and Joel after work treated them to dinner in Sheffield then we decided to go to the cinema, they chose Borat to see, didn't think I'd enjoy it much but to my surprise I did, it's really funny and I'd recommend it. Not long to go until we head off to the States. I should be feeling excited as we've never been to America but can't work up any real enthusisam, not sure what's wrong with me been feeling quite down and moody lately. I need a good kick up the bottom I think.

Lately..

MSN closes it's chat rooms today. For those of us that use them for weekly chats and quizzes it's a bit of a pain. So this week I have needed to find a suitable place for us to carry on. My friend Wayne has one on the Buzzen server and said it was good. I had tried Buzzen a couple of years ago when we were looking for a place to host our bot quizzes so already had a passport in there but for the life of me couldn't remember my password anyway to cut a boring story short we now have a new supported quiz room on buzzen paid up for a year. I also decided it might be good to have a 24/7 quiz bot in there for when there are no quizzes or chats on. What a bloody job that was ..where's Ogier when u need him;)?? Anyway downloaded and tried out a couple of scripts and I finally have our bot installed and running well in there. We've had lots come in and have been quite busy in the two days it's been up and running. If anyone would like to play our bot please feel free to:

We also have a themed quiz taking place tonight at 9pm which one of our members called Cookey is hosting so come along and join in.

My friend Dragon decided to tell everyone in the group about his Cancer today. It came as a big shock when he told me on the phone last week. He's very brave and will be starting chemo when he's recovered more from the last operation he had.

Dragonflies

Last week was very busy with lots of appointments to keep and going from my diary, this week looks even busier with every day full. On top of that we have my sons best friend Cal staying with us while his parents are in Greece on business ..though what business a couple of psycologists have in Greece is anyone guess, still it will be good for Alex having his mate here when he gets home from college. The boys are at different colleges studying different subjects So Cal will need driving to the train station as Al catches the bus but I'm sure I'll beable to juggle it ok hopefully.
My friend dragon is back in hospital again for more surgery, his friend Sherrie told me he's very lucky to still be here, it was pretty serious and a big operation this time. I phoned yesterday and the nurse said he was ok but they still have no idea when he will beable to come home, poor thing.  It's funny but the afternoon before I heard about Dragon I was sat in my car in a quite spot on the tops eating a sandwich I'd just got and a dragonfly came flying around my car, I sat and watched it and thought how lucky I was to have seen it. I've only seen 4 dragonflies in my life, first time at Ayres rock, then one flew around my pond, the 3rd time I was walking my dog Rayne round the back of Chester zoo and this time up on the tops. Dragonflies are my very favourite insects, I have lots of jewellary with dragonflies on.
it's been a good week for spotting wildlife - last night I was travelling back up my lane when I saw a badger come out of my next door neighbours drive. I stopped the car and saw it scuttle up the quiet lane then past my house and disappear into the field at the side, it was only a young one by the looks of it. We usually only see them dead by the side of the road around here so was nice to see a live one.
I'm looking forward to spending some time in the States despite my sister trying to scare me half to death by giving me the flight 93 dvd when she heard I was going. My other sister and brother in law have decided to look into adoption after yet another failed ivf.  They have been wanting a baby for such a long time, so I really hope it goes well for them. This is a photo of a bird I took at the seaside, it was taken at the weekend and it was sat watching me eat my whippy ice-cream ..cheeky thing!

Happy Mabon

For those that don't have a clue what I am talking about .. Mabon is the second of the three harvest festivals of the pagan year and is celebrated around the time of the Autumn Equinox (22nd/23rd September). This is when the day and night are of equal lengths.

It has been celebrated for thousands of years, it's a time to contemplate the forthcoming darkness of winter and to give thanks for the light of the summer. It is symbolised by the aging of the mother into the crone.

It's a time of balance & rest. A time to celebrate the harvest and prepare for the winding down of the year at Samhain, when the land goes to sleep for the winter. A time to relax and enjoy the fruits of the harvest. To appreciate the work you have done and the success you have had. Be it in the garden, at work or in your personal relationships.

Traditional activities include the making of wine, gathering of herbs, plants and seeds, walking in the woods and offering libations to the harvested fields.

Some of traditional food for around this time of year are breads, apples, nuts and grains.

The full moon that occurs on Mabon is known as the harvest moon or wine moon. It is believed that it gets its name because it provides extra light for the farmers to get in the the last of the harvest.

Well I'm celebrating it by going on a naked moonlight walk in wood close to Hathersage with some of my pagan friends.

Ok ....I was jesting about the naked bit what do u take me for? but going to join up with the rest of them now for our walk.

Love & light

Cont...

Just got in from our pagan moonlight walk in the woods and I was telling them what I had just wrote in my space what a mistake as being the group they are all decided it was a great idea to go strolling around a wood NAKED. Here's a pic I took of one of the group who will remain anon to protect his identity.

Obviously anyone who knows me would know I would never take part in such a bizar ritual So I remained clothed

Other new:- My cat Daisy had 4 beautiful kittens today. All healthy and doing well

Life Sucks

What started off as a pretty good week has turned into an absolutely awful one, One of my best friends needed to go back into hospital for emergency surgery, he's very scared about it and I feel awful knowing there's nothing I can do to help him. My sister phoned at the start of the week to tell me that they weren't sure at the hospital if this attempt at IVF had worked or not, her blood test had shown that there were pregnancy hormones there but not as high as they would expect so she had to go back for more blood tests today to find out for sure. The results are not good and she has miscarried both my sister & brother in Law are heartbroken. It was their 3rd attempt at IVF in the last 18 months and it cost them £6,000 this time. So feeling a lit low at the moment. life sucks infact

That Scotish Play

I went to see Macbeth tonight at the Buxton Opera House, it was very complex and they missed out my favourite bit of the witches doing the Hubble Bubble spell, wasn't the best I've seen but had a nice meal afterwards and drinks to follow. On the way home we spotted what we think was a UFO, very big and round with lights at the bottom, Much bigger than a plane and no it wasn't the drink as we all saw it hovering over the hill on the way back home. The song playing is Kate Rusby who I'm going to see when she comes to the Opera house.  Was up at 6 this morning, didn't get in till gone 2 and was going to go to bed but decided to watch Emmerdale and Corrie so now I'm very tired indeed and going to head on up to nice comfy bed.
Night all xx

Florida Here We Come!

Well I've finally booked my winter break and this year we have decided to see what Florida has to offer, so after looking at what seemed  like 100s of holiday properties, we've booked and paid for a luxury villa just 8 minutes from Disney which has a big privite indoor heated Swimming Pool with a Jacuzzi at one end and a waterfall flowing into the pool. A huge 61" tv with dvd (what is it with Americans;) and best of all it has Free high speed wireless internet  so I can keep an eye on what's going on.
It sleep 10 but there will be just Alex and I chilling out for a whole 2 weeks. Flights are booked and paid for as are our Orlando flexi tickets to see Sea world, Universal studios, Bush gardens, Wet and wild etc. All that's left for me to do is  sort out car hire and holiday insurance then I'm done
I'm  not working this week and Alex hasn't got College until Wednesday so I've decided to head to the coast, not sure which coast yet mind, but maybe Blackpool to see the lights, I'll see what Alex thinks and we will probably head off in a bit after the rush hour. Off to give Darcy a bath before we go, She's such a little scruff!

Back

Well I'm back and feeling good for a change, things have improved health wise and I'm feeling more like my oldself tho not sure that's a good thing or not Alex starts college next week so i'll have plenty of time on my hands to do the things I want to especially as I've cut back on how much time I spend in the office working and on line. I think I need to look for a new exciting hobby to fill me days and keep me active, I know I have my animals, holiday homes and groups that keep me busy but I've been feeling that I need something more than that just lately without really knowing just what it is I need that will make me contented. Moving house usually works, well for a little while at least. The times I have been most happiest in my life is when I've been travelling so maybe it's that what I need to uplift me and make me feel whole again. Thing is I have so many commitments now of my own doing I know, animals and such like that it's impossible for me to just jump on a plane and go exploring some deep dark corner of the world like we used to do when my son was still little.
Just reading back on what I have wrote makes me feel so ungrateful and sound like a spoilt child which is what I guess I am really, I spend hundreds of pounds each week on things I don't need and will probably never use or wear purely just to make me feel good for a few lousy seconds, my house is bursting with junk I've spent thousands on, for purely self indulgant resons, it's all materiel and means absoloutly nothing to me. When did I turn into such an ungrateful bitch?
Well me feeling good didn't last that long, did it:(
August 02

Been A long Time...

...Since I last updated my blog, Not sure I like this new set up very much. Today I went and collected my two beautiful bi colour girls, I'm still deciding on what to call them. As I love fairies it will probably be a fairy name, something like Tink & Titania I don't know yet.
My New Girls:)
I'm not sure Darcy likes them very much, I think it's the colour that upsets her as she has been used to living with colourpoint cats but I dare say she will get used to them, at the moment she just barks at them and runs away. My son has now finished school and starts College in Sept. As a treat I said after his exams are all over and done with I would pay for him to Greece for a two weeks holiday which he's now just got back from. He went with his best friend and it sounds like they had a wicked time. They went to Athens for the 1st week staying in the Divani Acropolis Palace named that as you can actually see the Acropolis from the hotel, They blow £180 one night on a meal on the roof top of the hotel.
'Acropolis From Roof Of Hotel'
They went on a glass bottom boat and saw dolphins and turtle and went snorkling in the sea. The 2nd week they flew over to Keffalonia and had a great time on something called a donut which is like a rubber ring you sit it and it gets pulled along at great speed by a spee
